In just his second ever appearance at Augusta National, Jordan Spieth blew the field away and became the second youngest winner of the Masters behind Tiger Woods whose record low round of 18 under par, (1997), he equaled.
The 21-year-old was coolness personified shooting a final round 70 to finish four shots clear of three-time winner Phil Mickelson and another major winner in Justin Rose.
Spieth hugged his parents and the rest of his family in attendance immediately after sinking his final putt and admitted ahead of his Green Jacket presentation that his achievement had yet to sink in.
"This is as great as it gets in our sport. To be honest, it still hasn’t kicked in. I’m still in shock a bit. I’m sure it will kick in soon."
Last year's winner Bubba Watson who has won the tournament twice presented his fellow American with his jacket but not before Spieth calmly revealed his latest goal.
"And I wanna be like Bubba, I want to win two Masters!"
Rory McIlroy finished on a high as best of the Irish, birdieing six holes in his last and best round of the weekend, finishing in fourth place just six shots off the leader.
Tiger Woods will be disappointed with his one 1 over final round but he will be pleased with his performance over the four days considering he came into the tournament cold after a two month stint without competitive action.
The four-time Green Jacket winner showed with his second and third round scores of 69 and 68 that he can still mix it with the best.
The remaining Irishmen, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell, ended up tied for 52nd on 6 over.
Spieth broke many records this weekend including the most birdies (26) in a Masters Championship while he's only the fifth ever golfer to win having led from start to finish and the first since Raymond Floyd in 1976.
The likable Texan has also earned himself a huge paycheque worth $1.8 million or €1.7 million.
