Bohemians have signed former Cardiff City player Roland Idowu.

The 19-year old attacking midfielder was released by Mick McCarthy's side at the end of last season.

Idowu - who can also play on the wing - was a product of St. Joseph's Boys, before making a move to Southampton in 2018.

He joined Cardiff eleven months ago but, despite a number of admirable performances for the Bluebirds' U23 side, was cut adrift.

Idowu will take the place in the squad left vacant by Bastien Hery's loan move to Derry City earlier in the transfer window.

He's played for the Republic of Ireland at U16, U17 and U18 level.

“I am delighted to capture the signature of Roland," said Bohemians manager Keith Long.

“He is a talented player with a good pedigree and will be a very good addition to our squad.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Roland, and are excited about the potential he can bring to the team.

“At 19 years of age, he is a very level-headed young lad, who is very keen to play for the club and showcase his talents.”

Bohs have also recently been linked with Canada international striker, Gabriel Boakye.
