Ireland picked up a comprehensive 26-3 win over reigning six nations champions at the Aviva.
Joe Schmidt's men led from start to finish with Johnny Sexton giving Ireland a 6-0 lead inside 20 minutes with two successful penalties.
The dominance of the Irish pack finally paid off, as the Irish pushed across the line from a five yard line out for Chris Henry to touch down.
Sexton converted from a tough angle to give the home side a 13-0 half time lead.
And while the Irish let the Welsh right back into the game in the corresponding fixture last year, it was a far more convincing win this year.
Sexton added another three points early into the second half as the Welsh failed to open the solid Irish defence time, and time again.
Leigh Halfpenny finally got a shot at goal after 55 minutes which he converted, but that was the final bit of joy for the travelling support.
Sexton added another penalty before Paddy Jackson crossed the line for Ireland's second try which the Ulsterman converted.
The Boys in green have some rest time, as their next game is in two weeks time away to England at Twickenham.
