The Irish cricket team got off to a good start after winning the toss and opting to put Sri Lanka out to bat in the first of two RSA One Day Internationals today. Ireland managed to restrict the visitors to just 219 runs as they took 8 wickets.
The World Twenty20 champs showed their class after lunch though and an impressive afternoon with the ball saw them bowl Ireland all out with just 140 runs scored. That gave the visitors an impressive victory by 79 runs.
Skipper William Porterfield was top scorer with 37 runs while Tim Murtagh was top bowler with 2-21.
The sides meet again at Clontarf on Thursday.
