The Republic of Ireland are leading Serbia by a goal to nil at half time in this friendly international at the Aviva Stadium.
Ireland should have taken the lead early on but had a perfectly good goal incorrectly disallowed for offside. James McClean shot across goal and it was probably going in anyway but Wes Hoolahan nudged it over the line. The ref ruled Hoolahan offside but tv replays showed he was onside.
The Boys in Green did go in front in the 8th minute with a brilliant finish from Shane Long. A long ball from Marc Wilson led to Branislav Ivanovic making a hash of his backpass and Long nipped in to execute a deft chip over the Serbian keeper with his left foot.
The only blot on the Irish copybook was a yellow card meted out to Wes Hoolahan in the 45th minute for pulling down Nemanja Matic.
