Dublin defender John Small admits that his club has been given a really tough draw in this year's Dublin Senior Club Football Championship.

The Ballymun Kickhams club man gave his reaction to the first draw made under the new group format which sees the 32-team championship divided into two tiers.

"I think any new format is welcome," Small said at Croke Park this afternoon. "It's going to be a good competition, four groups of four. We have Castleknock, St Brigids and Clontarf. It is a tough draw, tough games but I'm looking forward to them."

First things first though, there is an Allianz League Division One final to be contested and there should be another large contingent from the 'Mun on the field to take on Galway at GAA HQ this Sunday.

Small was joined by brother Paddy who came off the bench in the defeat to Monaghan last Sunday while Evan Comerford, James McCarthy, Philly McMahon and Dean Rock all started.

"It's great. There's a lot of good work going on with Ballymun at underage, just like all the other clubs in Dublin. It's [good] just to keep that going and trying to keep fellas that will come through. It's great that we have six lads now."

The Dubs march to five league titles in a row was halted at this stage last year when Kerry won the decider and Small is hoping to make amends against the Tribesmen.

"Yea it was disappointing. We don't go out to lose any game. We just reviewed it and tried to improve and brought that into the championship and did the best we could to perform in the championship.

"We want to win every game we play whether it's O'Byrne Cup or a final. We want to win every game, do the best we can and represent the group the best we can and perform."
