Norwich City manager Daniel Farke believes Adam Idah has the "potential" to continue his rise up the ranks.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international made his Premier League debut for Norwich in the New Year's Day draw with Crystal Palace.

The 18-year-old came off the bench in the dying moments at Carrow Road as the Canaries went in search of a winning goal in their bid to avoid relegation.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke was asked about Idah after the game: "I don’t like to praise the young lads too much, but him playing is a sign of our way.

"He looked pretty sharp when he came on, but he knows he has to improve and work further on. It’s not that easy to produce just by pressing a button to be a Premier League player at his age, but he’s got a lot of potential."

Idah got a taste of first-team football with Norwich in the League Cup earlier in the season and the Irish striker could get some more game time in the FA Cup this weekend.

Norwich face Preston at Deepdale Stadium on Saturday, and Farke says he’ll field a strong side, but doesn’t want to risk certain players due to the importance of their Premier League campaign.

"We want to go into the next round of the FA Cup, but we had four games in ten games during the festive period, so that’s a lot for many players.

"I had to substitute Teemu Pukki because he felt something in his hamstring, so we won’t take any risks in the cup."
