There are several battered and bruised bodies in the Ireland rugby camp.

Robbie Henshaw and Johnny Sexton are out of this weekend’s final November Test against Australia at the Aviva Stadium.

Henshaw was stretchered off after a first-half hit from Sam Cane – who was subsequently cited for the incident.

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has called in Ulster's Stuart Olding and Munster's Rory Scannell as replacements for the Henshaw-shaped hole in the squad.

Sexton couldn’t see out the first half either after the outhalf picked up a fresh hamstring injury on Saturday and will be out for one to two weeks.

“We don’t think it’s too bad”, said team manager Mick Kearney.

“It’ll certainly keep him out this weekend, but the expectation is  that it may not be much longer than that.”

Things are looking slightly more hopeful for CJ Stander and Rob Kearney though with both men following return-to-play protocols and haven’t been completely ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Wallabies.

Meanwhile Simon Zebo is expected to train on Thursday after he suffered cramp in Saturday’s game while Peter O'Mahony, Keith Earls and Ultan Dillane are also expected to return to training this week.

Kearney added that Henshaw was still “groggy” in the dressing room after the final whistle.

“Robbie was pretty much unconscious before he hit the ground. He came in this morning to see the doctor and has since returned home."
