The Republic of Ireland are drawing nil all with Germany at half time in this European Championship qualifier at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

Germany have had the majority of possession but haven't done much with it.

The closest they came was in the 5th minute when left back Erik Durm let fly from 30 yards with a cracking half volley which smashed against the crossbar with keeper David Forde beaten all ends up.

Other than that, there's only been fleeting glimpses of brilliance and their only other opportunities have been half chances with Antonio Rudiger, Toni Kroos and Matthias Ginter either shooting or heading over.

And Julian Draxler saw a near post shot saved by Forde.

Ireland created nothing of note despite some encouraging runs from left winger James McClean.

Glenn Whelan picked up a yellow card four minutes from the interval for a late tackle on Kroos.
