Rory McIlroy is three shots off the lead after round one of the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina.
The former World number on shot a round of 69 to finish on three under par.
The Ulster man bogeyed on the third and fourth holes in a disastrous start. But he followed that up with two birdies on the fifth and sixth to go back to level par.
McIlroy picked up four more shots on the back nine, and dropped just one on the 16th hole.
He is three shots off the lead, with Angel Cabrera the overall leader on six under par.
Steward Cink, Jonathan Byrd, Martin Laird, and Carl Pettersson are all two shots off the lead on four under par.
