Sergio Aguero was the hero for Manchester City last night.

He scored a hatrick, including two late late goals, to keep City’s Champions League hopes alive.

The Blues took the lead at the Etihad from the penalty spot just after the 20 minute mark- in an incident that saw Bayern reduced to ten men, with Mehdi Benatia red carded.

But Bayern were 2-1 up by half time, thanks to a Xabi Alonso free-kick and a Robert Lewandowski header.

That’s the way it stayed until the 85th minute, when Aguero pounced on a mistake from Alonso, to race clear and equalise.

And the Argentine sealed the victory in the last minute, when he took advantage of some poor defending from Jerome Boateng to slot home the winner.

The result means City head into the final group game against Roma in two weeks with a great chance of getting into the last 16.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are comfortably into the last 16 with a game to spare.

They thrashed Roberto Di Matteo’s Schalke 5-0 in Germany last night to ensure they progress.

John Terry, Willian, Didier Drogba and Ramires all netted, while Schalke defender Jan Kirchhoff also scored an own goal.

Chelsea remain unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Elsewhere last night, Lionel Messi became the Champions League's all-time leading scorer.

He scored a hat-trick as Barcelona beat Cillian Sheridan's APOEL Nicosia 4-0.

Luis Suarez also scored his first Barcelona goal in that game last night.

And Liverpool and Arsenal will be looking to get out of their slumps in form tonight.

Brendan Rodgers is under pressure, as Liverpool take on Ludogorets in Bulgaria.

And Arsene Wenger's also feeling the heat, as Arsenal host Borussia Dortmund.
