This week on Friday Night Racing, Ger Gilroy and Johnny Ward were joined by trainer Willie McCreery to talk about his career and get insights into his roles and successes.
But the former Kildare GAA man also talked about losing the All Ireland Football Final in 1998 - a match he started in as Mick O'Dwyer's side were defeated by Galway by four points at Croke Park.
"It’s the biggest regret I have in life and it’s no fault of anyone’s. I think on the day in the second half, Galway knew a lot more about us than we did about them," he recalled.

"They had their homework done, more so than we did. They came and rehearsed. They came to Kildare two weeks before the match, drove around Kildare in the bus, did a full rehearsal. They were 110% and we were just that little bit unprepared. They knew everything about our players, we made a few switches that were silly for one injury, we moved guys around that shouldn’t have played in those positions."
