Two errors during this week's French League Cup quarter-finals have led to the French league (LFP) suspending the use of goal-line technology.
The GoalControl technology failed to alert the referee to a Paris Saint Germain goal scored in their Amiens - it was instead awarded by the video assistant referee, which is currently being trialled in France.
The second glitch occured in the tie between Angers and Montpellier when the system incorrectly made the referee's watch vibrate to signal a goal even though there was none scored. The match official took the decision to shut GoalControl down for the second half of the match.
The director general of the LFP confirmed the suspension of the system this afternoon: "Last night unfortunately the GLT experienced two serious malfunctions in the Amiens-PSG match - the GLT didn't make the referee's watch vibrate and it was the video assistant who awarded the goal - and a second incident in Angers-Montpellier where the GLT wrongly caused the referee's watch to vibrate."
The suspension applies to all matches controlled by the LFP, notably Ligue 1 and French League Cup fixtures.
