Five Dublin players have been included in the Ireland squad for the International Rules test against Australia later this month.

Bernard Brogan captains the side for the Croke Park clash on November 21st.

He is joined in the squad by Boys in Blue Diarmuid Connolly, Jack McCaffrey, Philly McMahon & Rory O'Carroll.

It means all three nominees for the All-Star Footballer of the year award, McCaffrey, McMahon and Brogan, are on the panel. The award was won by McCaffrey last Friday.

In all, there are nine newly-crowned All-Stars in the 23 man panel.

As well as McCaffrey, McMahon, Brogan and O’Carroll, Mattie Donnelly, Lee Keegan, Conor McManus, Aidan O’Shea and Donnchadh Walsh are in the side.

Dublin is the best represented county on the panel.

Ireland boss Joe Kernan is happy with the squad he has assembled to take on the Ozzies.

“Unfortunately injuries and club commitments have ruled some players out, but I am happy that we have still managed to assemble a very strong squad and it was a difficult job to reduce numbers down to the squad and the standby list.

“Both the players and the management are really looking forward to this EirGrid International Rules test.

“The fact that the Australians are sending over such a strong team of players means that we will have to up our game if we are to take those boys on and that’s exactly what we are planning to do.”

The game throws-in on Saturday 21st November at 7pm.
