the Dublin U-21 Hurlers have reached the semi-final of the Leinster Championship for the first time in three years.

The Dubs beat Laois at Parnell Park last night by 1-17 to 1-10.

Dublin had lost to Laois and Carlow in their opening game of the Championship in the last two years, so could leave nothing to chance here.

Five of the starting six Laois forwards are regulars in the senior Laois team, and looked like a serious threat.

Dublin had just Cian O'Callaghan and Colm Cronin from the senior squad in the starting 15, but they made a big impact.

O'Callaghan commanded the backline while Cronin hit the only goal in the first half to give the Dubs a 1-6 to 0-7 lead at half time.

But the Dubs up the pace in the second half and slowly pulled away from Laois with points from Paul Winters and Colm Cronin.

The Dubs will now face either Carlow or Westmeath in the semi-finals.
