The Dublin County Board Chairman says plans to build a new stadium on the south side of the city have been scrapped.
It had been suggested a 25,000 seater stadium would be built on the 35 acre site, adjacent to the M50 in Templeogue, at a cost of €45 million.
Sean Shanley has shot down those plans in today's Irish Independent "It would take too long to get planning permission, as well as being too costly for the occasions you'd use a stadium there".
Instead, a centre of excellence will be erected on the site, which will be capable of hosting local championship fixtures.
Shanley said the development will hold five playing pitches, and include a small viewing area for spectators.
