This weekend's Gaelic football action brought the All Ireland qualifier phase to an end and now we usher in the first ever Super 8s.

The first group sees Kerry, Galway, Kildare and Monaghan go head to head, while the second pool pits Dublin, Donegal, Tyrone and Roscommon together.

As former Mayo footballer David Brady said, as he and former Tyrone player Enda McGinley, joined Joe Molloy on tonight's show, it's "whole new world for football" and a "whole new mindset" for teams used to knockout formats to adapt to a quasi-league format at this stage of the season.

One team that won't be involved will be Kieran McGeeney's Armagh after they lost to Roscommon in a match that McGinley regards as one of the games of the summer in terms of excitement.

But the lads also touched on McGeeney's forthright post-match comments to The Irish News. The Armagh manager had said of his team's critics: "At times you listen to a lot of shit outside – usually from people who haven’t a clue. They sit outside and they pontificate. I played against a lot of these fellas and they were f***ing useless back then and they’re still f***ing useless."

Brady believes McGeeney would be better served ignoring the critics.

"I think Kieran takes it too personal because at the end of the day 'what people say about me is none of my business' and maybe it's his players he's protecting," he said.

"I've the height of regard for Kieran. He has put in a massive amount of work."

Brady added that McGeeney "would be better off letting [the criticism] fly over his shoulder".

Meanwhile, McGinley added that "in the full interview, [McGeeney] seemed to mention several times about people outside of the circle being in the players' ears and almost trying to convince them that there's no point being in the county setup".

The lads also made their predictions for the Super 8s groups and you can watch that below.
