UFC President Dana White fears for Conor McGregor’s future after admitting the Dubliner may never fight again.

The two weight UFC champion hasn’t fought at one of the company’s events since November 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

White knows McGregor does not need to fight again having secured a life changing pay day for his bout with Floyd Mayweather in August.

McGregor’s behaviour during his sabbatical from the sport have made headlines. He jumped in to the cage and shoved a referee at a recent Bellator event in Dublin before slapping an employee after he was removed from the cage.

White spoke at a UFC media launch in the US on Tuesday, and he drew similarities between McGregor and troubled UFC fighter Jon Jones:

“He’s a young, rich kid who is a god in Ireland, that’s not the healthiest environment either. It’s all part of it.

“I don’t know if you guys remember in the very beginning with Jon Jones. There’s no doubt the talent was there.

“I used to go, ‘The guy is talented, but he’s young, he’s rich, he’s the king of the world now. Hopefully he can keep it together’.

“That was way before the crazy shit started to happen and there it is. It happens.

White has no plans to address the recent issues with McGregor as he feels it would be pointless. He has though expressed concerns about the company the Dubliner keeps, describing McGregor’s entourage as cling-ons:

“Conor has got a lot too. When he travels, he’s got friggin’ people for days with him. When you make that kind of money, you’re that famous and you’re a professional athlete, you’re going to have an overload of cling-ons.”

“Listen Conor might never fight again. The guy’s got a fucking hundred million dollars. These guys make money and that’s it.

“Fighting is the worst. Try to get up and get punched in the face every day when you’ve got $100 million in the bank. Money changes everything for a lot of people.”
