Wales flanker Dan Lydiate will miss the rest of this year's Guinness Six Nations after it was confirmed that he's suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The experienced Ospreys' back-row was forced off with the knee issue during Wales' 21-16 victory over over Ireland at the Principality Stadium and coach Wayne Pivac must also plan without three other players for this weekend's trip to Scotland.
Tomos Williams has a hamstring problem and Johnny Williams and Hallam Amos both have head injuries which will force them to sit out the game at BT Murrayfield.
"Dan Lydiate has been released from the Guinness Six Nations squad due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in the match against Ireland at Principality Stadium," Welsh Rugby announced in a statement.
"He will undergo a number of assessments and consultations in the coming days to establish the best course of management.
"Tomos Williams suffered a hamstring injury in the game against Ireland and is currently being assessed. He is ruled out of the fixture against Scotland on Saturday. Johnny Williams and Hallam Amos will both miss the fixture against Scotland on Saturday due to head injury."
Lydiate had been playing in his first international since 2018 and Wales' new defence coach Gethin Jenkins says it's "gutting" and "a tough pill to swallow" to lose the Lions player for the remainder of the tournament.
Jenkins added that Tomos Williams has undergone scans on his hamstring and that he's likely to miss a "few games" with the issue.
