Cyrus Christie was the victim of disgusting racist abuse on Twitter in the wake of the Republic of Ireland's 5-1 defeat to Denmark.
The FAI reported the incident to Gardai after the World Cup play-off defeat.
The anonymous troll operating under the username @RomeIukaku and the timeline is filled with disgusting abuse, sick attempts at humour and a litany of inappropriate remarks.
Two tweets about Christie remain online as of Monday morning and have not been deleted.
The user sent a death threat to the 25-year-old during the game last Tuesday. The abhorrent tweet read: "Starting a petition to lynch Cyrus Christie who's signing it"
The user followed that with a tweet direct to Christie which the defender saw and was left in tears by the horrible racist remark:
"You're worth f*** all mate go play for Jamaica you ugly spastic b***** @cyruschristie"
His teammate James McClean says the defender was left in tears after spotting the despicable tweet in his mentions.

Speaking at the PFAI awards on Saturday night, James McClean spoke of his disgust at the abuse his teammate received:
“We spoke afterwards and it really got to a few players. Everybody watched the game and it was poor, we know that.
“But some of the comments afterwards, which my Instagram post was about, went beyond football. One player in particular was told to go and play for Jamaica. Make of that what you want.
“It really upset him. My comments weren’t based on football, they were more personal. That’s for a player who has been a good servant to his country and it cut deep.
“That player was in tears, by the way. You’ve just missed out on the World Cup and then to have that.”
