Ireland have made it three wins from three in the November series.

They edged past Australia in a thrilling tie at the Aviva Stadium, to make it a clean sweep for Joe Schmidt’s side.

Simon Zebo and Tommy Bowe went over for first half tries, as Ireland raced into a 17-0 lead inside 14 minutes.

Australia fought back, however, with three first half tries of their own.

Nick Phipps went over twice, while Bernard Foley also touched down, as the sides went in level at half time on 20 points apiece.

Two further Jonny Sexton penalties in the second half won the game for Ireland.

The out-half notched 16 points in all from the boot, with the winning score coming just after the hour mark.

Ireland held firm late on, despite plenty of pressure from the Wallabies to run out winners by 26 points to 23.

It’s Ireland’s first clean sweep in the November Tests since 2006.

After the game, Joe Schmidt was taken to hospital suffering from appendicitis.
