On the eve of the opening night of Champions League action it appears that Celtic striker Anthony Stokes wonÂ’t be the only Irishman involved in the premier club competition.
The Irish Independent reports today that 18-year-old Ian Lawlor has been included in the Man City squad heading to the Czech Republic to take on Viktoria Plzen.
The Dubliner produced a masterclass between the sticks for the City under-21s against West Ham prompting coach Patrick Viera to alert manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The Chilean has included Lawlor as third choice goalie behind number one Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon.
HeÂ’s a giant as well standing at 6ft5 formerly of St. Malachys and Home Farm before being snapped up by the Premier League giants three years ago.
