Celtic owner Dermot Desmond has asked to speak to Roy Keane about the vacant manager's job at Celtic.
Irish boss Martin O'Neill revealed in the last few minutes Desmond had asked him whether he could speak with Keane.
When pressed on the issue, O'Neill said he expects Keano to be around for the Italy friendly at Craven Cottage on Saturday but as to whether his assistant would be around in September, O'Neill said that was a long time away.
O'Neill described his chat with Desmond as informal and that Keane has had a number of offers.
