Veteran broadcaster Jimmy Magee has died.
The Louth sports commentator was affectionately known as The Memory Man.
RTE reports he had been ill for some time.
Jimmy was the voice of sport for a generation of Irish people.
He famously commentated on 11 Olympics and 12 World Cups.
His friend John Giles says he had a love for all sports "because he had a genuine interest in it. He loved football and if you love the game you'll take a real interest in it. That always came across in Jimmy's commentary."
