Bohemians manager Owen Heary has a very welcome headache in the build up to the first clash of the league's biggest rivals.
Veteran striker Jason Byrne has notched one goal in two sub appearances and is champing at the bit as he chases down Brendan Bradley's league record tally of 235 goals.
The man keeping him on the bench is Dinny Corcoran who has netted three times in the first two games and boss Owen Heary admits it would be hard to overlook him for Friday's derby date with Shamrock Rovers.
"His all-round play has been terrific, he's holding it up well, he's winning headers, he's working hard and that's the reason why he's in the team. That's the reason why he's keeping Jay out of the team."
Byrne has 206 league goals under his belt to date and is eager to keep chipping away at Bradley's record but he'll have to bide his time.
"Jay is just itching to play but as long as Dinny is doing the work and scoring goals then he's managing to keep Jay on the bench."
There's mixed news for the Gypsies on the injury front. Dave Mulcahy looks set to miss the action at Dalymount for a second consecutive week with a calf problem which originated from a pre-season knee injury. Karl Moore and Anto Murphy have boosted numbers though, returning to training after recovering from small knocks. Heary hopes to have skipper Mulcahy back in training next week but admits that his absence for the visit of the Hoops is a big blow.
"He leads by example and when you have him in the middle it gives a lot of licence to the other players to go and play a little bit higher but we'll just have to cope without him. The positive thing, I know this is a big game and he's going to miss it which is unfortunate, but we've another 30-odd games to go in the season and it's important that we get him back for most of them."
