Aston Villa have signed defender Ryan Bertrand on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season. The 24-year-old has played more than 50 times for the Blues, including in their Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich in 2012. Bertrand had a regular role in the first team last season but only made three appearances since Jose Mourinho returned as manager last summer with Ashley Cole and Cesar Azpilicueta keeping his playing time limited.
Fiorentina will put Anderson through a medical today ahead of his planned transfer from Manchester United. The Italian Serie A club welcomed the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder to Florence on Thursday, in anticipation of what is expected to be a loan move. Fiorentina announced on their website that Anderson met with sporting director Daniele Prade and technical director Eduardo Macia. Anderson, who has spent six-and-a-half seasons with the Barclays Premier League champions after joining from Porto, has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford under manager David Moyes.
