It's the end of the road for Remi Garde, he's left Aston Villa this evening. In a short statement the club confirmed the Frenchman's departure.
"Manager, Rémi Garde, has today left Aston Villa Football Club by mutual consent," the statement reads.
"The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Rémi for all his efforts during a difficult period and wish him well in the future."
"Eric Black will take over as acting manager until the Club appoints a new manager. There will be no further comment from the Club at this stage."
He leaves a club in free-fall, doomed to relegation as they are 12 points from safety approaching the conclusion of the season.
They’ve won just three games and have only 16 points to show for their efforts.
Villa’s interim manager Eric Black will prepare the team for the game against Chelsea this Saturday.
The run in includes matches against Bournemouth, Manchester United, Southampton, Watford, Newcastle and Arsenal.
The Frenchman replaced Tim Sherwood in November, when he agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal. Garde has failed to stop the rot as the club slide towards relegation for the first time in the Premier League era.
