Anthony Daly has stepped down as manager of the Dublin hurlers after six years in charge.
Daly claimed a first Leinster title in 52 years for the Dubs last year, while he won a first National League crown since 1939 in 2011.
He has decided to walk away from the job after this year's Leinster Final disappointment to Kilkenny and All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Tipperary.
The Dublin County Board have praised Daly, saying his “loyalty to the cause, his expertise, his charisma and drive were key factors as Dublin climbed back up the rankings and moved forward from being one of the also-rans”.
Daly, meanwhile, says the time was right to his time in charge.
He says “Six years is a long voyage but they flew by because they were so enjoyable and the lads were so committed”.
There’s a certain lifespan in everything and I think it’s the best move for everybody, for players and maybe management for a fresh approach to come in.”
Former Tipperary managers Nicky English and Liam Sheedy are among the early names being linked with the post.
