Maria Sharapova had to overcome a battling Romanian in Simona Halep to claim her second French Open title in sweltering conditions in gay Paris.
The Russian got off to a bad start with Halep breaking in the first game but Sharapova fought back to take the first set 6-4.
The second set went to a tie-break and Halep's quest for a first Grand Slam title looked done and dusted as she fell 4-2 behind.
However, her battling qualities really shone through as she tackled her opponents devestating forehand to win the tie-break and level the match.
Both players broke in the second but it was Sharapova who came out on top of another brilliant tennis final to win the last set 6-4 and her 5th Grand Slam trophy in all.
