A large part of South Dublin could be hit with water outages this weekend.

Teams from Irish Water are scheduled to carry out works to fix a major leak in Donnybrook.

Supply to buildings in 27 areas, including Booterstown, Grand Canal Street and Stephen's Green will be disrupted.

Merrion Road, Bath Avenue and Mespil Road will also have little or no supply from 10am Saturday.

The works are expected to take 24 hours, but it may take longer for water to start running as normal again.

UCD and Trinity will also be affected.

Irish Water says it's essential that repairs are carried out on a water main on the Stillorgan Road.

The areas that could be hit by water outages include:

  • Booterstown, Mt. Merrion Avenue, Seafield, Nutley Park, Anglesea Road, Merrion Road North, Merrion Road South, Bath Avenue
  • Gilford Road, Pembroke Road, Mespil Road, Sussex Terrace, Belmont, Richmond Hill, UCD, Merrion Square, Stephen’s Green, Mercer Street
  • Redmond’s Hill, Bride Street, Patrick Street, Thomas Street West, Clanwilliam Place, Grand Canal Street, Townsend Street, Trinity College and Bachelors Walk

Irish Water says it will prioritise supply for those people it knows needs water for medical or other reasons.

Irish Water's customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also tweet them @IWCare.
