The National Transport Authority issued 1,600 fixed penalty notices to taxi drivers last year.
They resulted in fines of almost €77,000, ranging from €40 to €250, according to the Herald.
Details released under a Freedom of Information request, shows the number of complaints made by customers rose by 5.5 per cent to 1,383 in 2019.
529 of them related to overcharging, while there were 496 complaints about driver conduct.
