Simon Harris has been elected as Ireland's 16th - and youngest - Taoiseach.
He was voted in in the Dáil this afternoon, receiving the backing of 88 TDs, with 69 voting against.
The 37 year old Wicklow TD has since travelled to Áras an Uachtaráin with his wife, children, parents, siblings and members of his extended family.
There, he officially took up the role upon receiving his seal of office from President Michael D. Higgins.
“My message is simple: I want to work every day to improve the lives of all in this country.”
