A pedestrian has died in a hit and run in North Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Baldoyle shortly before one o'clock.
The man in his 40s, who was a pedestrian, was pronounced dead, while gardai say the car involved left the scene.
The road was closed overnight to facilitate a forensic exam however it's expected to re-open shortly.
The coroner has been notified and a post mortem exam is due to take place.
Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and has dash cam footage to come forward.
Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the R106 in Baldoyle, Dublin 13.
The Coast Road (R106) is currently closed in both directions between Baldoyle Church and Moyne Road in Dublin 13.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the coast road in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 17th July 2024.
"Shortly before 1am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a male in his 40s, was fatally injured.
"The car involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.
"The road was closed overnight to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road is expected to re-open shortly.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Howth Garda Station on 01 666 4900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
Ombudsman
GSOC has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the incident.
The Garda ombudsman says it received a referral from a garda superintendent in the early hours of this morning.
In a statement, it says: "GSOC received a referral from An Garda Síochána during the early hours of Wednesday, 17 July, following a road traffic incident in Portmarnock.
"The referral was made by a Garda Superintendent under section 102(1) of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005. The matter is now under examination by GSOC further to section 91 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005."
