We could have had an Irish Barbie in the Dreamhouse!
Saoirse Ronan has revealed that she was originally supposed to have a cameo in the biggest movie of 2023.
According to the Carlow actress, Greta Gerwig wanted her to play a ‘Weird Barbie’ similar to the role Kate McKinnon portrayed in the movie.

But she confessed that she wasn’t thrilled about the role chosen for her, and didn’t want to be the Barbieland outcast.
“I was definitely going to be a Weird Barbie. I don’t know how to take that.” she said in an interview with Variety. “I would have been with Kate McKinnon, so that would have been nice.”
When asked what the scene was, Saoirse said: “I can’t even remember now, but it was weird. I think I’d be the strange girl who talked to herself and always had her pet dog with her and always talked to the dog and wouldn’t look at anyone.”
Unfortunately it came down to clashing schedules in the end and Saoirse wouldn’t have gotten the chance to be in the Barbie movie due to other commitments.
The 29-year-old actress recently starred in the sci-film Foe opposite fellow Irish actor Paul Mescal and is currently promoting her new film The Outrun which recently premiered at Sundance at is already getting rave reviews.
