The sale of disposable vapes will be banned under proposals being brought to Cabinet this morning.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly also plans to restrict flavours and advertising at the till in shops other than vape shops. It's estimated that as many as 15,000 flavour combinations exist.
It's expected the Minister will get approval to draft laws on environmental and public health grounds.
Under the proposed laws there will be a complete ban on the sale, manufacture or import of single-use or disposable vapes in Ireland.
A ban on selling vaping products to children came into effect last year.
