A public consultation on the preferred route to extend the Luas to Finglas was launched today.
It will see the Green Line extended by 4km from Broomdridge to Charlestown via Finglas, with four new stops and a 600-vehicle park and ride facility close to the M50.
Trams will drop-off and pick-up at St Helena's, Finglas Village, Mellowes Park and Charlestown under the plan.
It will be constructed mostly in grass track, while a cycle and pedestrian path will be built along much of the line.
The project was dubbed the FingLUAS by former Fine Gael TD Noel Rock, who campaigned for trams to start running to the area.

Seven more longer carriages are due in the coming months. Each of the new trams will carry approximately 100 more passengers than the existing 44 metre trams.
