Rory McIlroy feels he's playing the best golf of his career ahead of this week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The Northern Irishman claimed his second FedEx Cup success at the end of the PGA Tour season and is targetting two more wins before the end of the year.

McIlroy is also chasing down Brooks Koepka for the world number one spot.

"I've got an opportunity over the next few weeks where there's a lot of world ranking points so my goal is to get closer, just to try to keep progressing, get a couple more wins.

"I feel like I'm playing well enough. The most I've ever won in a season is five. I'd love to at least equal that and try to better that."

McIlroy's previously won the European Tour's flagship event twice but he feels he's playing better now.

"I think if I look back at other years where I've had success, whether that be 2012 or 2014, I feel like I'm a better golfer now than I was then and that's all I can ask for.

The 30-year-old is also hopeful he can finally complete the career Grand Slam by landing the Masters at Augusta next season.

It's the one left for me. I've been very fortunate and lucky enough to win pretty much everything else there is to win in golf, so that's the last piece in the puzzle.

"I feel after a season like I've had that I'm more ready than ever to go and try and claim it and win it. Every time you go back there you get more and more comfortable, so hopefully, next year is the year.

"I feel like I'm confident enough in my game that I'll have a good chance next year."
