It's expected fewer trees and gardens will be lost to the controversial BusConnects project.

16 dedicated bus corridors and cycle tracks are proposed as part of the €2 billion masterplan for Dublin.

Revised plans for the new core bus corridors are to be announced today with a second round of public consultation due to get underway.

It follows a major backlash to the BusConnects plan with thousands of submissions lodged.

However according to the Herald, the vast majority of mature trees, that were due to be cut down to make roads wider, will no longer be impacted.

The project would have also eaten into gardens but changes mean the overall impact on properties is expected to be reduced by 42 per cent.

The result will be more one-way systems for traffic, bus gates and rerouting segregated cycle tracks.
