President Michael D. Higgins' new puppy has been named Misneach.
The Bernese Mountain Dog is five-months-old and is now in training alongside the President's other dog Bród.
His name is Irish and translates to 'courage'.
President Higgins was photographed with Misneach for the first time over the weekend walking through the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin, six months after the death of Síoda.
The president's dogs have been popular with the public for years, often accompanying Michael D at events in the Áras while a Twitter page dedicated to the "first dogs" has gathered almost 20 thousand followers.
