The President, Michael D Higgins, says serious questions need to be answered about the volume of gambling ads on all media platforms.
"As to how such a high degree of saturation of the media landscape by sports betting advertisements has arisen."
"When the evidence of the damage being inflicted is so obvious and should be a concern to us all.”
He's echoed his comments that invitations to bet responsibly at the end of these adverts are 'tokenistic'
Earlier this month, he spoke at Tiglin rehabilitation centre.
That's where he said gambling causes so much damage to families and individuals.
"I spoke of the scourge of sports gambling and the dangerous gambling advertisements.
"Which continue to cause so much damage to families and individuals."

The Government Needs To Ban These Ads - Labour
Labour Senator Mark Wall has called on the Government to adopt legislation to ban the ads.
"It's a conversation that should have happened a long time ago."
"There is too much gambling advertising on television."
"It's encouraging young people and indeed those with an addiction."
"The President's comments are very welcome, but now we need legislation."
"That's what I'm looking for, and have already proposed and introduced into the Seanad."
"This legislation needs to be adopted by the Government."
