The Japanese passport is the most powerful passport in the world, according to a new report.
A Henley & Partners Citizens survey found that Japanese citizens can enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 190 destinations around the world.
After gaining access to Myanmar earlier this month, Japan has knocked Singapore to second with 189 destinations.
Ireland sits 6th on the list tied with Canada, Belgium and Switzerland on 185 destinations.
Joint last place on the list are Afghanistan and Iraq, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 30 jurisdictions, just below Syria and Somalia (32) and Pakistan (33).
Meanwhile, a separate report, The Nomad Passport Index found that the most desirable passports come from Sweden, followed by Belgium. Spain and Italy tied for third, with Ireland rounding out the top five.
It ranks citizenship on five factors: visa-free travel, international taxation, perception, dual citizenship and personal freedom.
