There is potential to build over 35 thousand new homes in Dublin.
The finding is contained in a new report from the Land Development Agency, to be published this morning.
The 35 thousand homes could be build on land that is already owned by the State.
The biggest one is considered to be at Carrickmines Little in Leopardstown with the potential for over two thousand homes.
A second potential site is on Sherriff Street with the potential for 800 homes at land owned by CIE near Connolly Station.
The Land development Agency says the homes could be build over the next decade but the land would have to be released quickly in order to be developed.
The LDA has also identified land in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford that could provide more 'affordable homes'.
