Portobello Plaza is to close this weekend after thousands of people gathered there over the past few weekends.
Dublin City Council says anti-social behaviour is completely unacceptable and is having a hugely detrimental effect on both the local community and the environment.
After consultation with local residents, public representatives, and Gardaí, Portobello Plaza will be closed to the public from this afternoon until Monday morning - with the situation to be reviewed next week.
Dublin City Council will be closing Portobello Plaza this weekend - the council are also reminding people that it’s illegal to drink outdoors
How do they close the plaza exactly? I thought it was a public space pic.twitter.com/NBYnOaLqte

Dublin City Council is reminding the public that it is illegal to drink alcohol in a public place under City Council bye-laws and anyone found to be drinking outside will be fined.
Unfortunately Portobello Plaza is closed this weekend & we appeal to the public not to come here. We are aware of the importance of public spaces but some behaviour at this location in recent weeks has been completely unacceptable. https://t.co/OgTe0dCnX0#Portobello #Dublin pic.twitter.com/hSXZoe5bUd
