Pinergy has announced the first drop in energy prices since 2020.
The pay-as-you-go provider is reducing it's standard unit rate by 9 percent from March, meaning customers will save an average of 183 euro a year.
It's set to impact around 27 thousand customers.
CEO of price comparison website Bonkers dot ie, David Kerr, says it's hoped this decrease will see other providers follow suit.
He said; ''What (Pinergy) they're saying is that even though prices ae 50 per cent higher in the wholesale market, they can pass on some reductions that they are already seeing, so obviously this is to be welcomed.''
