One of Ireland's best success stories is celebrating fifty years in business today.
Penneys first opened its doors on Mary Street on this day in 1969.
Since then, it's been taken to the hearts of fashion fiends not just across Ireland, but the world.
It now has 372 stores in 12 countries, employing more than 75,000 people.
Penneys, which operates as Primark outside of Ireland, has stores in countries including Austria, France, the US and Italy.
It recently opened its first store in Slovenia, and plans to open more in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Penneys' biggest store is in Birmingham, where it has a beauty studio, barbers and 3 eating areas including a Disney Café across five floors.
Primark CEO, Paul Marchant said he is "so proud" of everything the company has achieved.
"I want to personally thank all our colleagues, both past and present, for their significant contribution and outstanding dedication.
Thanks Hun, Penneys is 50
I would also like to thank our customers for their loyalty over the past five decades. We look forward to providing them with an exceptional shopping experience into the future".
Penneys says it "knows there’s always more to be done and is committed to making sure that its products are made with care and respect for those making them and for the environment".
Last year, it was awarded a Leaping Bunny certification from Cruelty Free International for all its own brand cosmetics.
It also runs its own Sustainable Cotton Programme, which trains farmers to produce sustainably sourced cotton for its jeans and pyjamas.
Earlier this year, Penneys also launched a range of eco-friendly glitter.
Today the company is celebrating at its Mary Street store.
There will be a live DJ, giveaways and treat stations throughout the day from midday.
