The requirement for vaccinated passengers to have a negative Covid test to enter the country is to be scrapped.

Cabinet Ministers have agreed to lift the measure, which came into effect in December.

The measure was brought in to slow the importation of the Omicron, but as the variant now accounts for 95% of cases here, the measure is being lifted.

Meanwhile Irish passengers face another potential headache. Their digital covid certs still aren't capable of reflecting their booster status.

Travel and Aviation journalist Eoghan Corry says it's going to start causing problems for holidaymakers heading to destinations such as France.

From February 1st, digital Covid certs will only be considered valid for 9 months after becoming fully vaccinated.

The Department of Health says work is underway to update the certs and will be done early in the New Year.
