The NCT is urging drivers to continue booking and turning up for tests as normal.
Yesterday part of the vehicle test was suspended over concerns about cracks in lifts.
All 47 test centres around the country are affected. A full audit is underway to find out the extent of the problem.
The under-body inspection for vehicles will take place at a later date when the lifts are back in use.
General Manager of the NCT, Grant Henderson, says drivers should continue with the test as usual;
"The test will be completed with the omission of the under-body inspection where the lift is used, this will be conducted at a later date when the lifts are returned to use."
He says all the other elements of the test will go ahead as normal and that customers won't have to pay extra.
