One of the last areas close to Dublin city centre, that had free parking, is to see clamping and charges introduced.
The Office of Public Works says the parking problem at the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge has escalated over the last two years.
According to the Irish Times, commuters and construction workers, who are leaving their cars all day at the carparks near the entrance and inside the gates are being blamed for the crackdown.
Illegal parking, along double yellow lines and on footpaths, has also become an issue.
The OPW says it's causing problems for visitors to the gardens as well as those trying to access two schools in the area.
Temporary barriers, parking restrictions and clamping is planned in the short term.
While the OPW will look for permission to charge for parking as a more permanent deterrent.
