Nursing home residents can have a visit in person from today.
New guidelines have come into effect from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre
Nursing homes have been one of the areas hit hardest by Covid 19 infections.
Window Visits
As a result numerous restrictions have been put in place to protect residents and for the past few weeks only window visits have been allowed .
But from today one person can now visit a resident per week in person for an hour.
The visits don’t have to be by the same person each week but they must be arranged in advance.
An extra visit will be allowed during Christmas and the New Year.
Additional visits are also allowed in critical and compassionate circumstances.
