Dublin Bus says its Nitelink services will resume on Friday, January 28th.

The late-night buses were temporarily halted late last year because of COVID-19 restrictions.

However almost all of those rules were scrapped over the weekend.

Nitelink provides late night buses on weekends across 13 routes in the Greater Dublin Area.

This is as well as existing 24-hour services, which are running seven days across a number of routes - including routes 15, 39a and 41.

Fianna Fáil's Dublin spokesperson, Cormac Devlin, says this gives people more options.

"It's very welcome news, obviously, as the restrictions ease and the Nitelink service returns.

"It offers people who work shift work, or indeed early in the morning - or indeed those who are out late at night - offers them options of public transport to get home.

"As well as the 24-hour bus routes that are operating across Dublin city and county.

"So it gives commuters and customers more choice".

And he says this also offers people a choice when it comes to budget.

"It gives them an option, different price points as well, of being able to avail of public transport to get home.

"We need all various types of transport options; be that taxi or bus or indeed rail - so it is important to have these Nitelink services to try and cater for the night time economy and support those jobs in that sector.

"All Dubliners will welcome the news that the Nitelink service, and indeed other public transport options, are back again to facilitate those who are availing of the night time economy".
